His experiences growing up without a permanent father figure, and then as an adult deployed to Ramadi, Iraq, taught him the importance of camaraderie and having a sense of belonging. Join us in this story of struggle and survival. Today's guest is Chad Latta, a former Marine who was deployed to Iraq for Desert Storm/Desert Shield and who has been a therapist for the past 15 years. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he's also a painter and jiu-jitsu black belt. Chad shares his story of transition from the military as well as insights on the problems with traditional therapists. He delves into how different activities can be therapeutic for those struggling with stress from time on the job or being in-country, and the psychology of violence. To top it all off, he examines the lessons in changing self identity as a result of his bout with cancer.
